Body Protection Compound-157
Also known as: BPC-157, Bepecin, PL-10, PL 14736
A 15-amino acid partial sequence of human gastric juice body protection compound. While primarily categorized as a healing and recovery peptide, BPC-157 demonstrates significant neuroprotective and neuroregenerative properties relevant to cognitive enhancement, including dopaminergic system modulation, traumatic brain injury recovery, and nerve growth support. Cross-reference with the healing-recovery category for its primary tissue-repair profile.
Store at 2–8°C (36–46°F) for up to 3 months. For long-term storage, keep at -20°C (-4°F). Once reconstituted, refrigerate and use within 21 days. Relatively stable peptide.
Reconstitute lyophilized powder with bacteriostatic water. For cognitive applications, intranasal and subcutaneous routes are most commonly used in research. Oral capsule forms are also available.
BPC-157 has been studied extensively in preclinical models for its neuroprotective properties beyond its well-known tissue healing effects. Research published in journals including Current Neuropharmacology and Regulatory Peptides has demonstrated its ability to counteract dopaminergic neurotoxicity (amphetamine, haloperidol), protect against traumatic brain injury, and promote peripheral nerve regeneration following transection injuries. Its interaction with the NO system and dopamine pathways makes it relevant to cognitive function, though human clinical trials for cognitive indications have not been conducted.
