BPC-157 (Immune)

Body Protection Compound-157

Also known as: BPC, Bepecin, PL 14736

Overview

A pentadecapeptide derived from human gastric juice, primarily known for tissue healing but increasingly recognized for its immunomodulatory properties. Modulates immune responses, protects against immune-mediated gut damage, and supports mucosal immunity.

Half-Life
4 hours (estimated)
Typical Dose
250–500 mcg
Frequency
1-2x daily
Cycle Length
4-12 weeks

Administration

SubcutaneousIntramuscularOral

Benefits

  • Protects gut mucosal immune barrier integrity
  • Reduces immune-mediated intestinal inflammation
  • Counteracts NSAID-induced immune disruption in the GI tract
  • Modulates cytokine balance toward anti-inflammatory profile
  • Supports immune recovery after systemic stress or illness
  • Cytoprotective effects on immune-active tissues

Side Effects

  • Nausea (rare, mild)
  • Dizziness (rare)
  • Injection site irritation
  • Headache (uncommon)

Mechanism of Action

  • Modulates nitric oxide pathways involved in immune signaling
  • Reduces TNF-alpha and other pro-inflammatory cytokine release
  • Protects intestinal epithelial tight junctions from immune-mediated disruption
  • Interacts with the dopaminergic system which cross-talks with immune regulation
  • Promotes angiogenesis to support immune cell trafficking to damaged tissue

Contraindications

  • Active cancer (due to angiogenic properties)
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • History of blood clots (theoretical)

Storage & Reconstitution

Store at 2–8°C (36–46°F) for up to 3 months. For long-term storage, keep at -20°C (-4°F). Once reconstituted, refrigerate and use within 2-4 weeks.

Common peptide amounts:5 mg

Research Summary

Over 100 published studies on BPC-157, many demonstrating immune-relevant effects including cytoprotection, anti-inflammatory activity, and mucosal immune barrier preservation. Phase 2 trials conducted for inflammatory bowel disease. Immune modulation is considered a key secondary mechanism underlying its healing properties.
