Growth HormonePhase IIIntermediate

Hexarelin

Hexarelin Acetate

Also known as: Examorelin, HEX

Overview

A potent synthetic hexapeptide GH secretagogue and one of the strongest GHRPs available. It produces substantial GH release but is limited by rapid desensitization with continued use and notable effects on cortisol and prolactin.

Half-Life
~70 minutes
Typical Dose
100–200 mcg
Frequency
1-2 times daily
Cycle Length
4-8 weeks (with breaks due to desensitization)

Administration

SubcutaneousIntravenous

Benefits

  • Very potent GH release, among the highest of all GHRPs
  • Cardioprotective properties demonstrated in research
  • Enhanced wound healing and tissue repair
  • Improved bone mineral density in study models

Side Effects

  • Significant cortisol and prolactin elevation
  • Rapid receptor desensitization with chronic use
  • Water retention
  • Increased appetite
  • Possible lethargy

Mechanism of Action

  • Strong agonism of the GHS-R1a receptor producing maximal GH secretory response
  • Activates cardiac GHS receptors, contributing to cardioprotective effects independent of GH
  • Non-selective receptor activation leads to co-release of cortisol, prolactin, and ACTH

Contraindications

  • Active malignancy
  • Conditions worsened by cortisol elevation (e.g., Cushing's)
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • History of pituitary tumors

Storage & Reconstitution

Store at 2–8°C (36–46°F) for up to 3 months. For long-term storage, keep at -20°C (-4°F). Once reconstituted, refrigerate and use within 14 days.

Research Summary

Hexarelin has been studied in clinical trials for GH deficiency and cardiac recovery. It produces the most potent acute GH response among GHRPs but shows significant tachyphylaxis (desensitization) within 1-2 weeks of continuous use. Research on its cardioprotective effects is particularly noteworthy, with studies showing improved cardiac function in heart failure models independent of GH release.
